Police Investigate Slaying Of Norfolk Teacher

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Police are investigating the slaying of a Norfolk teacher whose body was found in her home.

Media outlets report that the body of Karen Hoffman, 41, was discovered last Friday. A memorial service was held Wednesday in Norfolk and funeral services were scheduled Thursday at Faith Independent Church in Wenona, Md.

Police say Hoffman's death was a homicide but details haven't been released.

Hoffman was an English teacher at Booker T. Washington High.

Grief counselors have been at the school this week. Principal Kevin W. Monroe says Hoffman was a remarkable teacher who had both humor and toughness.
