Morgan State Beats North Carolina A&T 77-59

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Kevin Thompson scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Morgan State over North Carolina A&T 77-59 on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.

The fourth-seeded Bears (16-13) shot 50 percent from the floor (26 of 52) to advance to the semifinals against top-seeded Bethune-Cookman on Friday.

Ahead by one, 26-25, with 7:16 left in the first half, Morgan State got nine points from Thompson as it outscored the Aggies 17-8 until halftime.

The Bears then held North Carolina A&T to 8 of 23 from the field, including 0 of 8 from 3-point range in the second half.

DeWayne Jackson and Aric Brooks added 11 points each for Morgan State, which outscored the Aggies 21-14 on second-chance points.

Thomas Coleman scored 14 points and Marc Hill 10 for the fifth-seeded Aggies (15-17).
