Md. Police Shoot N.J. Man Who Fled In Stolen Car

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say a New Jersey man who led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle has been shot by a state trooper.

Police say the man, Thorne Wright, 23, was shot in the hand while being arrested near Ritchie Marlboro Road in Prince George’s County late Sunday night. Authorities began pursuing Wright in Baltimore after the SUV he was driving was identified as a stolen vehicle.

Wright was treated at the scene and was later taken to a Baltimore hospital, where he is under state police guard.

Police say criminal and traffic charges are pending against Wright. Authorities say he is also wanted on a warrant from New Jersey for violation of probation.

The trooper involved in the shooting has been placed on routine administrative leave.
