Plan To Convert Prince George’s Museum Shelved

GLENN DALE, Md. (AP) — Officials say Prince George’s County residents have stopped a plan to convert a museum run by the county into office space.

Anita Pesses, a spokeswoman for the county’s Parks and Recreation Department, says the county has changed its plans for the Marietta House in Glenn Dale “based on the wishes of the community.”

Department officials said last year that they had planned to close the museum this year because attendance had slipped.

The Marietta House was built in the early 1800s and opened as a museum in 1989.
