Family Mourns Death Of Northwest Baltimore Man

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Family members are mourning the loss of a 63-year-old Northwest Baltimore man who has died in a two-alarm house fire.

Dr. David R. Fowler, the state's chief medical examiner, confirmed the Tuesday evening death of Roger Weldon Carter to the Baltimore Sun. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.

Fire department spokesman Kevin Cartwright said firefighters went in the house in the 4300-block of Springdale Avenue and found Carter unconscious on the second floor.

Cartwright said Carter later died at an area hospital.

His separated wife, Joan Carter, said Roger Carter lived at the home as a tenant with several other people.

She said in February he just published a book, "The Force of Creation, Salvation and Judgment," which was published by WestBow Press.
