Man Charged With Stealing Copper From House

ELK MILLS, Md. (AP) -- The Cecil County Sheriff's Office has charged an Elkton man with stealing copper from a vacant house.

Brandon Rhoades, 22, was arrested March 17 after deputies caught him allegedly crawling from under the house.

Officials say the house's owner heard power tools being used and called authorities. Deputies caught Rhoades, who had various power tools. They say he had removed 50 feet of copper wire and 15 pieces of copper piping.

Rhoades is charged with first-degree burglary and other offenses.
