Crash Kills 1 In Rosedale

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ) — A deadly crash in Baltimore County occurred just blocks away from the nearest hospital.

It happened early Wednesday afternoon in Rosedale at Franklin Square Drive and Castle Creek Circle.  That’s not far from Franklin Square Hospital.

Police say Alfredas Ortman, 19, was traveling eastbound on Franklin Square Drive at a high rate of speed. His vehicle crossed over the center line of Franklin Square Drive and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

Ortman was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the second vehicle is expected to be OK.

Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

People need to learn how to drive.

If they were held accountable for causing “accidents”, there would be a lot less

    • Kathy

I agree people of all ages, not just the younger generation, need to learn how to drive. However, your statement about being held accountable is totally 100% ignorant especially since the young man is dead!!! My guess is that he was held accountable because he lost his life!

I am sure you are perfect – NOT! because no one is perfect!!!

I am very sad for his family and friends may you all find comfort in your memories.

AJ may you rest in peace!!!

    • Ellie

He died — I think that’s about as “accountable” as you can probably get. You need to think about what you say before you say it.

  • lauren

hey my family member died in this accident and you dont even know what happened. show some respect!

  • bob

leave him alone he was my good friend. he’s not an idiot so lay off. you know other people matter in this world besides you.

  • Anonymous

You people are ridiculous. Accidents happen sometimes for unexplainable reasons. I knew the kid that died and I think you all need to be more respectful considering a life was lost. If this happened to someone you knew you wouldn’t appreciate reading those comments. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • Keisha

This was so sad and I saw the person laying on the ground who didn’t make it. My prayers are with the family as they were this afternoon. May you find comfort in knowing people are praying for you. Remember nothing is to big for God . Be blessed.

  • MF

Maybe self-centered people like yourselves should find out what happened during the car accident before jumping to conclusions and blaming someone. FYI ,it was a teenager but it wasn’t his fault. His family is grieving over him and you’re on here making obscure comments about the accident. Keep them to yourself.

  • Michael Cunningham

I could not believe it when I went in to school today, last year A.J. was a graduating senior there, as soon as I walked in the door, I heard a student and the principal talking. It is really hard to believe that in my senior year two former students were KILLED! My thoughts go out to his friends and family members. AJ will be missed.

  • Mike

I feel bad for the people who suffer due to the loss, but many other news reports have reported this driver going way over the posted speed limit, Police say Ortman, of the 4000-block of Cliffvale Road, was traveling eastbound on Franklin Square Drive at a high rate of speed. The vehicle crossed over the center line of Franklin Square Drive and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Franklin Square Drive.

So to those asking us to keep comments to ourself, its not right to keep facts hidden because its a friend…. Grow up people.

This accident happened feet from our office. We are very sad for the loss of this young man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I feel sorry for the life lost in this accident, but a lot of teenagers these days don’t think about anyone but themselves when their out on the road. There have been numerous times where a young teenager was going so fast passing by me that I thought they were going to hit me.

I pray for both families in this matter.

    People like you disgust me.
