Cleaner Woods And Streams Mean A Cleaner Bay

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Cleaner streams and woodlands mean a cleaner Chesapeake.

That's the message Project Clean Stream is trying to get out this Saturday when thousands of volunteers branch out across the region. The stream and shoreline cleanup is coordinated by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and is held the first Saturday in April.

Last year, more than 3,600 volunteers turned out at 140 sites. Organizers say they collected about 118,000 pounds of trash throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
