2 Pedestrians Struck By CSX Trains, 1 Fatality

BALTIMORE (AP/WJZ)—Tragedy on the tracks. Two people were hit by trains Sunday in separate accidents CSX says happened within 35 minutes of each other.

The first happened just after 3 a.m. when a CSX train struck a pedestrian near M&T Bank Stadium in the 1200-block of Russell Street.

That person was rushed to the hospital. No word yet on the victim's condition.

At around 3:45 a.m., a different train killed a person after hitting them near Joppa Farm Road in Baltimore County.

Police haven't identified the victim.

Police say the conductor alerted authorities that he had struck something that he thought was a person. The train with two locomotives and 72 freight cars was allowed to continue on its journey from Detroit to Philadelphia after a brief investigation.
