3 Hurt In Small Plane Crash In Caroline County

RIDGELY, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say two people from Maryland and one from Virginia were on board a small plane that flipped as it was landing at an air park in Ridgely on the Eastern Shore.

Authorities on Monday identified the passengers as: 24-year-old Austen Ehly, of Pasadena, Md.; 24-year-old Sean Moran, of Easton, Md.; and 23-year-old Kevin Warnke of Alexandria, Va. Ehly was believed to be the pilot.

Two passengers were flown to a hospital in Delaware, and the other was flown to Baltimore. All three were seriously injured.

FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac says a Piper Aerostar was trying to land shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, when the wind caused it to flip. Maryland State Police say the plane came to rest on its right side, with both wings broken off.
