ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A measure that would give Maryland residents who use marijuana for medical reasons a new defense with a doctor’s approval has been approved by the House of Delegates.

The House passed the bill on Saturday. It would enable someone to avoid a $100 fine and misdemeanor conviction, if a doctor says the drug were being used for medical reasons.

A doctor’s note, testimony from a doctor or medical records could be used by someone in defense to avoid a conviction.

The Senate already has passed a bill, but the House made a change that the Senate would need to adopt Monday to send the bill to Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley. The measure also includes plans to study medical marijuana in Maryland.

I believe it is time to change the laws in this country.
If pot works for you, that is all that matters.
    Legalize pot.
Apply the same laws as alcohol,
    and tax it heavily.
The government can enjoy the revenue,
and we would finally enjoy freedom, without harassment

yea its past time for recreational marijuana. i really dont see the down side of it. besides maybe the .009% of random potheads who actually cant drive or function while high. less drug crimes, less drug arrests, new taxable revenue, new jobs, more time for police to worry about more serious crimes. and maybe we as americans might finally learn to be happy with what we got and love one another again lol

Herman, you shallow, television educated idiot. You have no clue except what has been spoon fed to you by corporate hired media and legislators. You should really learn to read and do some research on topics before you open you pie-hole and show your ignorance.

You are probably so stoned out on valium ,xanax, vicodin, percocet, oxy-contin, seconal, codine, klonapin and methadone to don’t know up from down.

Figure out the top cash crop in this country and get back to us. BTW, a crop is something grown naturally from soil, not MANufactored in a lab.

you gotta smoke to stay in this tax infested state. i’m suprised that the toilets don’t cost $5 a flush in all public restrooms. hey o malley, you su*k.

  6. Richard in White Marsh says:

Smoking anything is good for you!

  7. sheriff willie says:

Hey, great new revenue source for the state of Md. Wonder if they now realize that the cost, medical that is will shoot sky high for all the dopers that need help. Personally, I don’t smoke & really care but have learned that giving into everything like a spoiled petulant childs wishes, has a bad downside…Please don’t T-bone me on the highway, tough enough dodging the drunks & texters.

According to my accountant I pay more taxes than any of his other clients. Which means that everytime some vile vomit smelling drunk crashes into a guardrail or telephone pole im getting stuck with paying for more than my fair share of the damages. And personally id prefer that my tax money went to something useful such as education, or roads, or bridges, or parks, anything other than supporting all of the alcoholics in MD.

This is the 21st century and Mr OMalley & the majority of our states representatives should be praised for keeping up with modern science and acknowledging through their actions that a major problem exists with our current laws..

As for dopers. Id rather be a healthy productive pothead than a ignorant drunkard that drains our public coffers, and participates in the nightly slaughter of unsuspecting innocents whose only mistake was to get in the way of an alcoholic on his way back from his favorite drunkard hangout.
