Bay Foundation To Plant Trees At Annapolis Farm
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Chesapeake Bay Foundation will be planting trees near the Bay Bridge.
The foundation hopes to plant 1,000 native trees and shrubs Sunday at the Holly Beach Farm in Annapolis. The trees and shrubs will prevent erosion and create wildlife habitat. The foundation is conducting the planting along with Sterling Planet and Washington Gas Energy Services.
In addition to helping keep sediment from washing into the bay, where it can bury bay grasses, trees also help keep storm water from running into the bay. Storm water can carry pollutants into the Chesapeake where it harms water quality.
