D.C. Mayor Dismayed By Lack Of Congressional Support

WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray is dismayed by how little support congressional leaders have for the city.

Gray appeared Tuesday on CNN hours after being released from jail following his arrest during a protest over the federal budget deal. Gray says the city became a "political pawn" between Republicans, Democrats and the White House as they negotiated to avoid a federal government shutdown.

Gray says that "there's no other jurisdiction in America that would be told they cannot spend their own local tax dollars."

Gray was arrested with six members of the city council Monday night outside a Senate office building when they refused to clear a major downtown thoroughfare.
