Man Enlists Crossword Puzzle To Propose To Fiancee

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- Marlowe Epstein's wedding proposal was waiting for her, if she could only piece it together.

It finally came together this weekend as she stared at the clue to 51 across in a Sunday crossword in The Washington Post: "words with a certain ring to them." As she realized that "willyoumarryme" was a perfect fit, boyfriend Corey Newman dropped to one knee and unveiled an engagement ring.

Epstein said yes, and the Alexandria couple is now officially engaged.

Newman was looking for a unique way to propose and persuaded crossword creator Bob Klahn to craft the puzzle, which was personalized to include Epstein's first and last name.

Klahn said it is the second time he created a puzzle to include a wedding proposal. Both were successful.
