Woman Rescued From Swollen Potomac River

POTOMAC, Md. (AP) --  A woman kayaking in the Potomac River has been safely rescued from the water after her boat overturned in the rapids.

The rescue occurred Monday afternoon as the woman was clutching a partially submerged tree in waters near Potomac.

Heavy rains on Saturday caused flooding around the region. Emergency crews earlier Monday evacuated restaurants and businesses along the Georgetown waterfront because of flooding from the Potomac River.
