Landers To Announce Baltimore Mayoral Bid
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Former city councilman Joseph T. "Jody" Landers III is expected to launch his bid for mayor on Wednesday.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Landers' campaign says he will file for the office on the Democratic ticket that morning and will host a news conference in the afternoon in Northeast Baltimore.
He says that personal frustration with the city's decline in population and services in the last two decades motivated him to announce his bid to unseat Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake in the city's September primary. Landers currently is vice president for the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors.
Democratic mayoral candidate Otis Rolley opened his campaign headquarters. Both Landers and Rolley say the city's property tax rate must be lowered to attract and keep residents and businesses.
