PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (WJZ/AP) — State police are investigating the discovery of two bodies in the Susquehanna River near the Conowingo Dam.

Andrea Fujii has the latest on the investigation.

Police say the body of a woman was discovered Wednesday morning north of the dam. After the body was pulled from the water, the body of a man was spotted south of the dam around 2 p.m.  People around there say it’s rare to find one body, let alone two, but police won’t say whether the two are connected.

“It’s shocking,” said Karen Pawlowski.  “It’s a pretty nice neighborhood.”

The bodies were found between three and four miles apart.

They’ve been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore for autopsies and identification efforts. Police say the races and ages of the two people are unknown. Police spokesman Greg Shipley says it’s too early to speculate about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

“The only connection is that they were both found in the Susquehanna River in the area of the Conowingo Dam,” said Greg Shipley, Maryland State Police spokesperson.

Homicide detectives are investigating and have shared information about the discovery with police departments in
Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Those are grammar errors not spelling therefore spell check wouldn’t pick up on those.

2 bodies in the Susquehanna, 2 bodies in the bay. What is going on here?

  7. skylar says:

i’m thinking that the woman and the man probably committed suicide together by jumping off of that bridge into the river.

  8. Bill W says:

Two people lost their lives by accident or foul play and everyone is arguing in posts about grammer and geography. Sorry, this is real sad commentary about our society and pathetic behavior. Get a life folks, life is to short!

  9. Peggy Price says:

Seriously….two bodies are found and all people have to comment about is spelling and grammar? Does anyone else see the problem with this? Where is the compassion and/or concern that these two lives have been cut short? Perhaps this shows the problem in our society. We want to pick each other apart and find each other’s shortcomings. Maybe we should spend a little more time in prayer for the families of these two souls. I’m curious to find out if perhaps their bodies haven’t come from up the river and have just been washed down due to heavy flooding up north.

This is so sad ….another web site is reporting that the two bodies have been pulled, one female and one male and both are african american. The other news site is speculating that it is Phylicia Barnes due to a identifiable tattoo on her lower leg. This is so very sad and if this turns out to be her, I hope and pray for justice for Phylicia.
