Frederick Newspaper Eyes New Publisher

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick News-Post says it is considering hiring a new publisher from outside the newspaper's founding family.

The News-Post reports that Publisher Myron Randall told employees about the situation in a written statement Tuesday.

Randall says in the statement that he would remain as president of Randall Family, LLC. That's the company that owns the newspaper plus a commercial printing operation and a website hosting-and-development business.

Randall says two publisher candidates have been invited to visit the newspaper.

Myron Randall became publisher in 2004, succeeding his late brother George.

Their great-grandfather William Delaplaine Sr. founded the business in 1883.
