OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — A Baltimore County police spokesman says a man serving a 25-year sentence in the death of his wife has now been charged with a 10-year-old rape.

Police spokesman Lt. Rob McCullough says Nankisoor Ramnath, 56, has been charged with second-degree rape and related charges after his DNA was linked to the 2001 assault.

McCullough says the woman reported the rape to police after it happened, but detectives exhausted all leads and suspended the investigation several months later. But in December, Maryland State Police contacted Baltimore County Police, alerting them to a DNA match.

Ramnath’s DNA had been collected following his 2008 conviction for strangling his wife, Nirmala Maharaj, 50, in their home.

Wow, I know he’s 56, but 25 years for murdering his wife seems short. How much of that 25 will actually be served. I hope this Rape charge will prevent him from ever getting out. Our justice system is a joke.

Why waste another tax dollar on this trash ?
Take him out back and execute him, post haste.

hmmmmmmmmmm, 25 years? will be out in less then 7. lifers who are not giving “without parole” only serve 7 yrs most time.

  5. Melissa says:

It is a crime to give such a sentence for a murder. it doesn’t compare to the life long suffering the family, kids, and friends are going through of the belated. I hope this new charge will ensure a longer sentence and him never to get out……
