Man Convicted Of Killing Girlfriend’s Infant

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) — A judge has convicted a Sykesville man of second-degree murder in the 2009 death of his girlfriend’s 8-month-old daughter.

Carroll County Circuit Judge J. Barry Hughes convicted Donald Pevia Jr. on Wednesday and set sentencing for July 7. Pevia was ordered held without bail.

Eight-month-old Ky’leigh Rogers was taken to Carroll Hospital Center on March 3, 2009 with apparent breathing trouble and died later that day. Her death was ruled a homicide, caused by bleeding from numerous internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma.

Pevia had been one of the infant’s main caregivers in the weeks before her death.

If he’s not executed, what’s the point.

Why wasn’t mom the primary caregivers? Hope he dies.

This guy has a very extensive criminal background going back 10 years or more in Baltimore City. Why do these women take up with men like him, especially when they have children? When is the law going to start holding these mothers accountable, too?

Yeah, he’s a real man…Freakin Coward! Takes a big bad man to abuse an 8-month old. I hope he dies in prison.
