Prince George's Co. Ethics Panel To Issue Report This Spring

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A panel working on ethics reforms in Prince George's County is considering the creation of a public watchdog office, requiring annual ethics training for employees and establishing an anonymous tip line.

Those are just some of the recommendations being mulled so far by the panel, which was appointed by County Executive Rushern Baker III.

The panel was scheduled to meet Saturday to review some of the recommendations.

Baker's predecessor as county executive, Jack Johnson, is currently under indictment on corruption charges. Johnson's wife, Leslie, has also been charged with conspiracy to commit evidence and witness tampering. Prosecutors say she and her husband plotted to destroy a $100,000 check from a developer.

The task force is scheduled to issue a report later this spring.
