Prayer At Md. County Board Meeting Will Continue
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- A sectarian prayer said at the start of meetings of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners will continue.
The commissioners on Thursday night decided against implementing a draft policy proposed by Tim Burke, the acting county attorney.
The policy would have prevented the prayer from using language that advances or disparages any one particular faith. It also would have prevented the prayer from being listed on the official meeting agenda, and no would be required to stand or participate in any prayer.
Board President Doug Howard says the board will include the prayer policy in a future larger discussion about the board's meeting structure.
