Sites For CSX Rail Facility Still Up In The Air
ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP) -- A Maryland official says locations for a planned CSX rail and container transfer facility remain undecided, and it's not clear when a location will be selected.
Two state lawmakers told a crowd in Elkridge this week that the list of sites for the $150 million project would be winnowed from four to two by July. But Jack Cahalan, a spokesman for the state transportation department, says it's not clear when or if any of the sites will be dropped from consideration.
The four finalists include two sites in Howard County, one in Prince George's County and another in Jessup on the Arundel side of the tracks.
The project is aimed at increasing shipping from Baltimore's port by allowing double-stack cargo containers on rail cars traveling south or west.
