FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Tami McKinney’s first child was born so quickly, her family joked that her next child would be born on the side of the road.
That joke became reality on Wednesday, when 6-pound, 9-ounce Case Harold McKinney was delivered in his father’s Nissan Pathfinder. He was born on the side of Baltimore National Pike before his parents could make it to Frederick Memorial Hospital from Mount Airy.
Kirk McKinney says 911 operators tried to coach him, but there was too much commotion. Besides, by the time he got to the other side of the SUV, the baby was already coming out.
First responders showed up within minutes, but Case was already born.
Tami McKinney says it was probably a mistake telling her husband to take a shower before leaving.
