Lt. Gov. Brown Announces Jobs Effort For Md. Veterans

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown has announced a new initiative to help transitioning veterans find jobs.

Brown, who is a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, launched a new Web portal on Tuesday that is designed to link veterans with careers in the federal government.

The Mil2FedJobs portal uses veterans' military occupational codes to search for federal jobs that match their qualifications. It also allows civilian hiring managers to identify specific military occupations that share attributes with specific jobs in their agencies.

Brown says it's a one-of-a-kind website that will help servicemen and women find federal job opportunities that best match their skills. Brown also says that military base realignment will give Maryland a unique opportunity to connect veterans with thousands of new jobs coming to the state.
