71-Year-Old Abducted From Frostburg Home

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- Police are looking for a Frostburg man who allegedly abducted a 71-year-old man during a robbery attempt.

Cumberland police say Michael Bittner, 29, forced the unidentified victim into his car early Thursday but crashed on Interstate 68 after driving less than 10 miles east.

Police say Bittner fled on foot, leaving the victim alone in the car with a flat tire. The man managed to drive to the U.S. 220 exit in Cumberland.

A citizen spotted him in the disabled car at 3:44 a.m. and called police. Officers arrived to find the elderly man bleeding from wounds on his face and head, wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt.

Police say a face mask and gloves were found along I-68, matching those that the victim said his assailant wore.
