2 Police Officers Cleared Of Kidnapping Charges

BALTIMORE (AP) — Two police officers accused of kidnapping two 15-year-olds in a police van in 2009 have been cleared of those charges.

But a Baltimore jury on Monday found Detectives Tyrone Francis and Milton Smith III guilty of misconduct, a misdemeanor, in the incident.

The third officer charged in the case, Gregory Hellen, will have his fate decided by the judge overseeing the case.

Prosecutors had claimed the three were on a crime suppression detail in West Baltimore on May 4, 2009. In separate incidents, they allegedly picked two 15-year-olds and took them in a police van. They released one in East Baltimore and one in Howard County.

The case was the first tried by Baltimore State’s Attorney Gregg Bernstein since taking office in January.

This shows you that its no order among baltimores’ police, some take the badge, and think they can say or do anything to you and get away with it, now if the teenagers were another race the outcome would’ve been different for the officers not no pat on the back, just imagine that was you or your children and something happen to the kids by dropping them all around town it would’ve been a hush hush thing,……….

Mr Watts- Are you are angry that these cops- who are probably AA (based on their names) did something bad to white kids. I find it disgusting that you feel that black cops would single out white kids based on their skin color and drop them off far from home. OR— Are you accusing these two cops of being “Uncle Toms” and working for “Whitey”? There is so much blatent racism in your comment that I can’t help but point out that people like you are the reason the AA community in Baltimore continues to fall to the bottom rung of Baltimore’s society. Keep blaming “The Man” and watch how you, and your community falls further behind the rest of the country.

Did you think to do research before you attempted to “blast” Watts in his post?? You accuse him of blatant racism- yet you say these officers are Black based upon their names?! That’s pure comedy…..
For the record- one officer is Black, the other two White….and BOTH kids are Black.
I had trouble even understanding what you were trying to get across in this post…..perhaps I’ve just ‘fallen further behind the rest of the country’. Lol…again- pure comedy.

Police for the most part are doing their jobs in Baltimore & are good cops & citizens. Surely there a handful that abuse their power liker any organization & need to be weeded out. Young Blacks 13 through 30 are a serious problem in greater Baltimore & elsewhere throughout the country. They have no fear of authority not because they are brave but just the opposite, they are dumber than a box of rocks. Poor or no parenting & street education almost always leads to death or incarceration at an early age. If they manage to live, their futures are bleak because they are anti intellectual & won’t learn a skill or get an education. Every decade sees Blacks losing ground in society & one day they will be back to being apes again.
