New Trial Denied In 1999 Slaying In Md.
CHESTERTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A judge has denied a request for a new trial for a man convicted of first-degree murder in the 1999 killing of a 73-year-old woman.
Kent County Circuit Judge Paul M. Bowman last week denied a request by David Starkey, 35, of Millington for
post-conviction relief.
Starkey was sentenced to life in prison in 2000 for the December 1999 killing of Germaine Clarkston. Starkey fired two deer slugs from a 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun into a car she was riding in. Two other women were injured.
Starkey's brother, Danny Starkey, who was driving the car, was convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in the slaying.
