BGE, Pepco Customers To See Electricity Rates Drop

WASHINGTON (AP) -- BGE and Pepco say electricity rates are going down for their customers. 

Pepco's Maryland customers will pay about 15 percent less over the course of the year because of the new rates starting June, while D.C. customers will pay about 10 percent less. 

BGE customers will see lower rates this summer, too. BGE estimates that total bills will be down about 17 percent since
prices peaked in 2009. While electricity costs are down about 25 percent, the delivery charges have increased. 

In Virginia, Dominion's rates will go up slightly on July 1. Their fuel rate increase covers the annual costs of generating and delivering electricity.
