BALTIMORE (WJZ) – If you’re looking to cool your house quickly, Mary Bubala has some advice for when you turn on your air conditioning unit.

Experts say don’t set your thermostat at a colder setting than normal when you turn it on.

Contrary to popular belief, that won’t cool your home any faster. It could actually result in excessive cooling and therefore give you unnecessary expense.

My experience has been to put on my central air and set the thermostat to where I want it. Then when the unit goes on, I close all the windows and the unit will not overcool as stated in this article.
