Frederick Holding Energy Choice Forum

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick city officials want you to know you have a choice when it comes to who supplies your electricity.

That's why they're holding an electric choice energy forum May 24 at City Hall. The Maryland People's Counsel, who represents ratepayers before the Public Service Commission, will appear, along with representatives from electric suppliers.

Lawmakers in Annapolis passed a bill this year to raise awareness about competitive electricity choices. Supporters of the bill said many consumers don't know they can shop around and they want the Public Service Commission to do more to educate consumers.
