Baltimore City Food Trucks Get Permit Reprieve
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is giving city food truck owners more time to make sure they have the proper permits.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the chairman of the city's street vendors board, Alvin Gillard, informed two trucks on Wednesday that they must have a street vendors license. The permit costs $25, but Gillard told the truck operators that they would have to wait until June to have them approved.
The owners say the requirement would have affected most of the city's food trucks.
Rawlings-Blake on Wednesday afternoon asked city agencies to work with the businesses to ensure they get the correct permits. A spokesman for Rawlings-Blake says that, for now, the food trucks will be able to operate as usual.
