BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are investigating a fatal accident that killed a teen and injured three others.

Weijia Jiang has more on the twist in the case.

Police are not only checking out why the car crashed, but also why the victims were in it to begin with.  The vehicle was reported stolen earlier this week.

The car smashed into a tree Thursday night, killing 17-year-old Lishinia Miller.

The 1991 Lexus sedan was traveling southbound on Belair Road when, for a reason unknown, suddenly crashed just before 9 p.m.

Investigators say the car was reported stolen out of Baltimore County on Tuesday. They’re looking at how the victims are linked to it.

The three others inside were taken to the hospital. Two 19-year-old men are listed in critical condition.  A 19-year-old woman was treated and released.

Police are investigating if the heavy rain at the time of the crash played a role.  So far no charges have been filed.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the fatal crash.

Insurance…. that’s what it’s for. Protect your property because that’s all it is. This is a life that was taken, and you don’t know if everyone in that car was even aware of the car being stolen. The world is cold and put material things before life. That’s why the world is the way it is.

It could be possible that someone in the vehicle didnt know …a mother was killed in this accident so that was crazy to say u dont feel bad for them and u dont know what happend..

I agree Don people put to much into possesions and not enough into what really matters…But I can almost guarantee that if it were a family member or close friend those opinions would be totally different.

It’s sad that stupid delinquency resulted in the end of a life. At least they hit a tree and not an innocent civilian. Hopefully the others in the car have learned a hard and tragic lesson from this and can do some good in the world in the future. Doubtful, but we can hope.

It does matter if it was a stolen car! If it wasn’t stolen, maybe they would all still be alive and never in the accident in the first place!!!! Get real!!!

    CORRECTION: “buy them another car”

The comment in the story “police are investigating if heavy rain at the time of the crash played a role” is secondary; the fact is stealing the car IS the main reason one person was killed and the others were injured. Possible that someone in the vehicle didn’t know? You mean someone shows up with a 1991 Lexus (no matter what shape its in) and no one asks, “where did you get the car?” I can feel for the victim and the family but at the end of the day, the person who stole the car is ultimately liable for all of this tragedy, Lastly, before anyone goes down the “race” road, it doesn’t matter if they were black, white, or purple with green polka dots; someone steals a car, three other people get in, the car crashes (and it doesn’t “suddently” crash by the way) and a person is killed. Have we heard this before? According to someone else who has posted, a 17 year old (and a mom?) is now dead. I can only shake my head because it seems a majority of kids (and that’s what they are) have no sense of responsibility or common sense and this is what our future looks like.

The female that DIED was not aware that she was in a stolen car. I understand that reading the news all day can make you synical BUT DAMN a life was lost. Its easy to TYPE mean things and hide behind a keyboard and screen. My prayers go out to the family and to the ignorant commentators. Judge not lest Ye be judged!

    1. Billiam says:

Please – if the young woman is deceased, how would you know whether she did or didn’t know it was stolen? Yes – it can be easy to be cynical and yes it’s easy to type, but no one is hiding here. Let’s see what plays out, and then we can talk (and not text)

This is a tragedy but a lesson in its self, we can’t do anything we want and expect to get away with it. There is a price to pay for everything we do, unfortunately, this had to end in the death of a child and mother. Lets pray for the young lady’s family and child and also this world that we live in.

the messed up thing about this that the car was stolen and for someone to put incident in danger because a mother has lost her daugher and a daughter has lost a mother this a bad situtation

  11. Ty says:

Life far out weighs materials in any situation…the car can be replaced…I’m shocked at some of the comments…I guess the world is more cruel than I knew
