Woman Sentenced For Stealing Welfare Funds

BALTIMORE (AP) — The Maryland Attorney General’s Office says a former social services employee has been sentenced to five years in prison for stealing almost $417,000 in welfare funds.

Joyce Flowers, 41, was also ordered to pay more than $374,000 in restitution at sentencing Tuesday.

Prosecutors say over a 14-month period, Flowers created fake welfare recipients in the Baltimore Department of Social Services computer system and stole cash and food stamps.

Officials say she traded the funds for computers, televisions, cruises, a BMW and jewelry.

And from whom is she going to steal $374,000. to make restitution. Hopefully she has a REAL NICE house ’cause the BMW isn’t going to do it.
And once she loses everything plus, is she going to be eligible to file for social services? Bet she can and probably will. Wagers anyone?

This really makes me sick and people who reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy need help who have lost jobs and unemployment has run out cannot get any help especially if you are buying a home or own one but it’s the taxpayers money. And yes she will get help from Social Services go figure.

  • On Second Thought..

She should have chosen politics as her carreer path.
That way, she could have stolen the taxpayer’s funds legally, and avoided prosecution.
