Blue Angels Scrub Academy Graduation Fly Over

PENSACOLA, FLa. (AP) -- The Blue Angels will not perform the annual graduation fly over at the U.S. Naval Academy graduation because of a safety review.

The famous flight demonstration squadron enacted the safety stand-down after four of the six F/A-18 Hornets flew too low while performing a diamond formation Sunday at an air show in Lynchburg, Va.

The team also canceled planned Memorial Day weekend performances at an air show in Millville, N.J.

Blue Angels Spokeswoman Lt. Katie Kelly said Thursday that another F/A-18 Navy squadron will do the fly over at the academy graduation Friday.

Kelly says the Blue Angels are reviewing safety procedures and it is uncertain when they will return to the skies.
