Ex-Teacher In Va. Gets 25 Years For Child Porn
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- A former teacher has been sentenced to 25 years in prison on child pornography charges after admitting a decades-long pattern of molesting teenage boys in the United States and Japan.
Kevin Ricks, 50, of Federalsburg, Md., had already received a one-year prison sentence in a Virginia court for taking indecent liberties with a minor while teaching at Osbourn High School in Manassas. The 25-year sentence he received Thursday resulted from a plea bargain with federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia.
U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride called Ricks a master manipulator and "every parent's worst nightmare."
Ricks admitted a pattern of assaults that began when he was a 19-year-old camp counselor. Molestations continued while teaching English in Japan and at teaching stints in Danville and Manassas.
