O'Malley Praises Md. School Anti-Bullying Program

IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Martin O'Malley is praising an anti-bullying program at a middle school in Frederick County.

The Democratic governor visited with students, teachers and staff of Urbana Middle School in Ijamsville Thursday.

He says the school has a nationally recognized anti-bullying program that requires all adults in the school to intervene when bullying occurs.

Students are reminded during monthly class meetings about the effects of bullying and taught how to put a stop to mean behavior.

The governor's visit was part of a weeklong series of events aimed at preventing bullying in Maryland schools and communities.
