AAA: Gas Prices Fall For Memorial Day Weekend

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Gas prices are falling just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

AAA Mid-Atlantic said Friday that the price drop and a summer-like forecast after a long winter and rainy spring are motivating people to travel. AAA Mid-Atlantic says about 719,400 Marylanders will travel this weekend. That's a half percent drop from last year.

Nationally, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $3.81 per gallon, 8 cents less than last week, but more than $1 higher than one year ago.

Across Maryland, regular unleaded is averaging $3.83. That's cheaper than a week ago, but more than $1 higher than last year.

AAA is seeing the state's highest prices in the Washington suburbs, with an average of $3.87, and the lowest prices in Salisbury on the Eastern Shore, with an average of $3.68.
