Woman Injured In Frederick Courthouse Crash

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick police say a woman was critically injured when her car crashed into the Frederick County courthouse.

Police say the car traveled the wrong way down West Patrick Street before striking the courthouse and investigators believe the woman was involved in a dispute at a gas station about a mile away before fleeing.

Police say the car is also believed to have knocked loose a fire hydrant and may have hit several cars before striking the
courthouse. Damage to the brick building did not appear to be significant.

The driver was identified as Alexandra Penate, 20,  of Hyattsville. She was listed in critical condition late Saturday at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
