2 Found Dead In Oakland, Md., Woods

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- Court records indicate a stormy relationship between two young people found dead in Oakland.

The Garrett County Sheriff's Office says deputies found the bodies of Timothy Lax, 24, and Jessica Baker, 18, on Wednesday in a wooded area of the western Maryland town. The agency is calling it a double homicide.

Online court records show that Lax had obtained a temporary peace order against Baker but then had it rescinded on Friday.

On Tuesday, the state dropped a charge of telephone misuse against him involving Baker as the alleged victim.

Each had also recently accused the other of assault and harassment. The assault charge against Baker was dropped on Tuesday but Lax faced a June 15 trial date for allegedly stalking, harassing and assaulting her.
