Girl Found Dead In Gaithersburg Townhouse

GAITHERSURG, Md. (AP) — The death of a 12-year-old girl found inside a Gaithersburg townhouse has been ruled a homicide.

Montgomery County police on Wednesday announced the ruling from the medical examiner’s office.

Police say they found Jessica Nguyen dead inside the home she shared with family members after being called Tuesday evening to the 700-block of Raven Avenue. She had trauma to her upper body.

Police say they are questioning family members and friends, but did not release any other details about their investigation. No one had been charged as of Wednesday afternoon.

The girl was a sixth-grade student at Gaithersburg Middle School. Dana Tofig, a spokesman for the county public school
system, said grief counselors were at the school to help students. He called Nguyen’s death a “terrible tragedy.”
