2 Officers On Probation After Misconduct Conviction

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two Baltimore City police officers are on probation after being convicted of misconduct.

Ron Matz has more.

According to WJZ's media partner, "The Baltimore Sun," Detectives Tyrone Francis and Milton Smith were sentenced to 18 months probation and 250 hours of community service.

They were accused of kidnapping two Baltimore teens and dropping them off in remote locations.

The officers were acquitted of those charges and will get to keep their badges for now. They still face department charges and could be fired.

Both officers maintain their innocence.

This was the first case personally tried by Baltimore State's Attorney Gregg Bernstein since he was elected last November.
