Federal Jury Denies Md. Woman's Sex-Bias Claim
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A U.S. District Court jury has denied a woman's claim of sexual harassment and gender discrimination during Hagerstown Police Department training.
The jury in Baltimore reached its verdict Friday night.
Tiffany Mosby-Grant was seeking $350,000 in compensatory and punitive damages from the city of Hagerstown.
She claimed that as the only woman in a class of 15 recruits, she was shunned, physically attacked and subjected to a hostile work environment. She claimed she failed her firearms test and became clinically depressed as a result of the harassment.
The city denied her claims. It said Mosby-Grant rarely, if ever, complained about academy conditions. The city says she failed her firearms test because she couldn't shoot well enough to make the grade.
