BALTIMORE (AP) — Britain’s Prince Edward will be visiting Baltimore along with Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan.
The June 21 visit is to announce the participation of Baltimore youths in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award-Young Americans’ Challenge. The self-development program is designed to help build confidence, motivation and self-worth in youths and young adults between the ages of 14 and 25. Students in the program are involved in community service and activities focused on physical recreation and skills development.
The program established in 1956 and is conducted in 132 countries. This year marks the fourth for the program in the United States.
