BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Getting your driver’s license renewed faster is just one of the many services Baltimore’s new Maryland Vehicle Administration branch promises.

Andrea Fujii was at the grand opening on Reisterstown Road.

The Maryland Vehicle Administration is a place to come out of necessity. But at the grand opening of the new Baltimore branch they hope to make it a “pleasant” experience.

“Everything’s about customer flow and customers throughout,” said John T. Kuo, Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

The new location at the Hilltop Shopping Center moved from the Mondawmin Mall where it had been for the past 30 years.

The facility promises upgraded technology. One of the new features is a self-service kiosk that allows you to pay for and get your vehicle registration right away, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Though it’s always a waiting game, the MVA’s goal is assistance in less than 30 minutes.

“Seems a lot faster, more efficient,” said Shawn Winfield, MVA customer. “They seem more together now.”

The goal is to service customers and the community.

“Also help to revitalize this part of the community,” said Kuo.

The Baltimore location serves up to 30,000 people a month.

Still no MVA in the center of Downtown. Amazing. People, lots of them live in neighborhoods in the center of town. It is frustrating to have to drive out to the county for everything.
Cant keep anything retail, or grocery downtown either. Downtown residents do buy things just like other people do.

At least for the next couple of months it will be safer then the old location.

Not to happy about the increased traffic in the area or parking challenges for the customers who shop at the small merchant strip.
