Maryland Names Interim Schools Superintendent

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former Queen Anne's County schools superintendent has been named as Maryland's interim state superintendent of schools.

The Maryland State Board of Education announced Thursday that Bernard Sadusky will take over July 1 following the retirement of Nancy Grasmick. Grasmick announced earlier this year that she is retiring June 30 after two decades on the job.

Sadusky served as superintendent of the Queen Anne's school system from 1994 to 2007. Since retiring, he has served as a policy liaison to local school systems for the state Department of Education.
