BLOG: Orioles Record A Surprise
Here the Orioles sit, approaching .500 again. For the record, I predicted the Orioles to be 79-83, so they're on the pace that I anticipated. That said, it's pretty hard to believe where they are considering all the things that have gone wrong, and how few have gone right. How many positions are you really satisfied with so far? 1st base (Lee), 2nd base (Roberts), 3rd base (Reynolds), right field (Markakis) and left field (Scott) have all underperformed. The rotation has only had Matusz for 2 starts, and Duchsherer for none. Two of the guys that started the year in the rotation, Tillman and Bergesen, are now in the minors. The bullpen has been great lately, but a disappointment for much of the year. That said, and the Orioles are just under .500. What's gone as expected, or better? Britton, Jones, Weiters, Hardy while he's been healthy, Vlad (but not enough power) and not much more. My point is, if they start to hit and I think they will, the Orioles could get even better.
