Pikesville Man Collects Playbills From Broadway

PIKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- On Sunday, CBS will broadcast the Tony Awards which recognize greatness on Broadway.

Mike Schuh reports there is a Pikesville man who will be glued to the television.

Joe Feldman holds what he calls his "hidden treasures." He's a collector. He started his collection with baseball cards. Then he went onto real baseballs. Over the years he started collecting movie posters.

But what's close to his heart is splayed out on the dining room table.

He has hundreds of Playbills, the programs given out at Broadway shows.

"To me it was all buried treasure, whether it had a meaning to me or someone else," said Feldman.

He's been to about half of these shows, but friends gave him the rest. Ink on a page to some is a revelation to him.

"They left me spellbound, amazed , inspired," said Feldman.

He dreams of being a playwright, but until one of his scripts hits big, his inspirations are just a page turn away.

Oh and what's a show without music?

"These are the matching soundtracks to many of these Playbills," said Feldman.

Feldman doesn't see as many shows these days, but if you have a spare Playbill, he'd be happy to see it.

Feldman has had many offers from people to buy his collection, but for now he says it's not for sale.
