BLOG: Cold Front Moving Through

A strong cold front is moving through the state right now. The combination of that front and the warm, muggy air over us has created a round of severe thunderstorms. The worst storm reports we are getting are 1" hail and wind damage over Harford County, where there was even a tornado warning. The storms are still moving southeastward this evening with severe thunderstorm warnings, over the Eastern Shore. When these thunderstorms leave us, a change in the weather is headed our way.

Winds will pick up out of the northwest overnight, bringing in much cooler and drier air. It's going to be a beautiful day tomorrow with lots of sunshine and incredibly low humidity. Temperatures will drop back into the 50s by morning and then only recover to near 80 degrees tomorrow. The cooler air will hang around Tuesday, although there will be some additional clouds with a shower or thunderstorm possible. That disturbance gets out of here Wednesday while the cooler air hangs for another day. Highs will still only be close to 80 degrees on Wednesday. Then, we get our next change in the weather late in the week.

A new storm will move our way Thursday into Friday. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms with it. Temperatures and humidity/dewpoints will start building again during this time. It should be warm and muggy next weekend. We will have to see if some of the thunderstorms linger.
