Archbishop To Ordain 5 New Priests For D.C., Md.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Cardinal Donald Wuerl is ordaining five new Roman Catholic priests for the Archdiocese of Washington.

More than 2,000 priests, family and friends are expected to attend a ceremony Saturday morning at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The five men are among 67 preparing to become priests in Washington and southern Maryland.

The new priests include a native of Colombia who spent years in the financial industry, a native of Ecuador who studied industrial engineering and a native of Peru, who was a researcher in public health.

The new priests are: 28-year-old Michael Paris from Columbia, Md.: 32-year-old William Carloni who was born in Italy and grew up in Denver; 49-year-old Alejandro Diaz from Colombia; 36-year-old Agustin Lopez-Espinoso from Ecuador; and 54-year-old Rodolfo Salinas-Cabrera from Peru.
